       Spelling of verbs and nouns ending in –s and – es.

                          تهجئة السماء المنتهية ب -s أو -es   

1-For most third – person singular verbs and plural nouns, add –s to the base form.

لمعظم الأفعال المفردة والأسماء الجمع نضيف s للصيغة الأساسية

        Swim ---swims                 lake ---lakes

2-If the base form ends with the letter s, Z, ch, or x,  add  -es.  

 اذا انتهت الصيغ الأساسية بأحد الأحرف s-z-ch-x تضيف es .

3- If the base form ends with a consonant + y, change y to I and  add  -es.
  

            اذا الصيغة الأساسية انتهت بحرف ساكن + y نغير y الى i ونضيف es .

    

  ( vowel + y:  obey --- obeys; toy --- toys.)          حرف متحرك                              

        

4- If the base form ends with a consonant + o, add –s or –es. Some words take –s, some words take -es, some take both –s and -es. (Compare vowel + o: radio --- radios; zoo---zoos.)

         5- If the base form of certain nouns ends with a single f or fe change to v and add –es.

اذا كانت الصيغة الأساسية لأسماء معينة تنتهي ب f- ef تتغير الى v ونضيف es .
